A good story vs. an extrodinary sentence

An extraordinary sentence is very different from a well told story.  The language used in a writers story can be mediocre but when you have a sentence that has strong language and metaphors that you have to spend a moment trying to decipher then it truly is mind blowing.  Great language leads to a great story if you have everything that goes along with it.  All the metaphors, similes, allusions, and everything else really tie in together and work magic all on there own.  When you just have a writer telling you a story then it doesn't really catch the idea of giving you something to think about.  Telling a story does not involve much thought at all, people tell stories all the time but when you use outstanding language and put some thought before you tell the story it becomes something more.  Language and the way you tell a story makes it a good read and something entertaining.

  1. I really like how important you made the language sound, especially since not many people pay attention to the language.

    1. Thanks. I meant every word. I don't just like to read a good story I like to sit there and ponder on a few things that the writer is trying to tell me.

  2. I also think that the glory of one sentance can be condensed into one sentance. After all, the theme of a story can be told in one sentance.

    1. That is true but the language in that one sentence can tell you way more than the story is it is used correctly.

  3. I agree that language makes a story something more. Well done.
